Prepping for mine site visit
 

OK, I'm heading out to a minesite owned by Company X as of this Monday. I'm an I.T. contractor at present.

It's a pretty short flight followed by some work on one site, then a 2 hour drive into the desert.

Here is some of the new gear I'm taking along. (The camera is not shown for obvious reasons, but it's a 7 Megapixel Fuji FinePix S5700 with 10x optical zoom as below)

From left to right:

Boots, laced up US paratrooper or ladder style. Steel type capped boots are required for on-site work. These particular ones are extremely comfortable, which is why I picked them out, provided by the company too.

Platypus 3 Litre hydration pack with Source bladder. Designed to go under an Alice pack frame.

Motorola Iridium satellite phone.




Also humping an HP laptop, USB external drive and other crud, and of course some clothes to wear.

I will take some more photos, and on the trip there, I can't guarantee that I'll be able to do any photography on site, but I will ask permission. Apparently it's not too much of an issue, but time will tell...
